In goldsmithing, design and composition always precede creation and craftsmanship usually with painstaking patience. I have always been drawn to poetry because for me all the components of artistic expression seem to come in any order or all at once from a place so deeply inside that it emerges from “behind the veil” of my creative unconscious sometimes in pieces, sometimes full-blown, but always to my own surprise.
Several years ago, a friend suggested that I produce a series of photographic cards with images of my work on the front and my poetry inside. And thus Hand & Heart is reproduced here.
